Assignment 4 - Task 5 - Re Draft

Haribo Advert Evaluation
Time is money in the real world of media, so when creating an advert the best thing to do is to create an effective advert in the shortest time possible. This is what we tried to do when making our advert, is to make a good advert selling haribos in the shortest time possible.

The product that we are attempting to sell is Haribos and the target audience we are trying to appeal to everyone. We did this by basing our advert around a scene from the film 'Pulp Fiction'. However we did this in a childish way so it still appeals to children. It was to sell by showing that Haribos are so good that you will be really annoyed someone steals them. It does this in a way that is funny and childish so it still appeals to children. Most Haribo adverts that already exist contain adults doing childish things, or children doing adult things. So when making our advert we kept this in mind by trying to  make our advert as childish as possible.

To present our final advert to an audience we help a focus group to a small group of people. We did this by screening our advert and after asking some questions about it like what they liked about it or how they would improve on it. Because of the answers given to us by the group, we considered our advert to be a success. The answers we got from people were more qualitative than quantitative as there were not many people in the group so people gave us good answers.

We asked questions like "What would you rate this advert out of 10?" We asked this because depending on the number they gave us, we would know if people liked our advert and if it was a success. The general response we got was an 8/10 so we considered our advert a success. We also asked, "Would this advert make you invest in some Haribos?" and people answered yes. So again because of this we think our advert was effective because getting Haribos to sell is the main point of having an advert. What we did find surprising is that someone described our advert as being different which is surprising as all of the other Haribo adverts are silly and funny and so was our advert. We don’t think that this is a bad thing but we are a little surprised over it. We asked "Do you think that adults would like this advert as well as children?" and the feedback we got was yes because it gets the message across in a way that is funny and childish so it would get hold the attention of the audience.

I think that our advert was very successful because at the beginning of the advert you think that it is going to be a serious advert and when you see Haribos have been pulled out, you can really see how childish the advert really is. i think that this makes it funny and memorable and people would buy the product because of this. An improvement i would have on this would be to have more music playing in the background when people are talking. I agree with the feedback from the audience as they said a lot of things that i was thinking or agree with.

I do think that we shot the advert very well and the camera angles are all good with a few creative shots to keep the attention of the audience. I think that the camera is clearly steady with everything in shot, leaving nothing out. I think it is very clear what the advert is advertising as it shows bags of Haribos in numerous shots and the theme song at the end clearly shows that it is advertising Haribos as this theme song is in every Haribo advert. I think it successfully sells the product as it shows how much Haribos mean to the man in the advert. This can show that Haribos are that nice that you may be sad when someone eats all of them or steals them. I think this advert was a good idea because it appeals to both children and adults in different ways. It appeals to children in the sense that it is funny and doesn’t really take itself seriously. It appeals to adults in the way that it follows a scene from 'Pulp Fiction' so they may get the reference.

I would improve this advert by having music over the top of the scene when the characters are talking to create more suspense and build up the feeling of the advert.

I think we achieved our aim of creating an advert that appeals to a lot of different as we found out through our focus group that they liked that about our advert. So overall i am very happy with the finished advert.
