Assignment 4 - Task 1 - Sources of Information

Pre-Production Documents
Before we even started shooting the advert we were brainstorming ideas about the story of the advert and how it is going to make the product look good. We did this by doing a couple of storyboards with different stories associated with them and selling the product in different ways. We would also make notes while we were filming he advert on how we could improve it by adding in any other shots or angles. The storyboards were very helpful when filming as if we did not know what shot to do next, we would just revise the storyboard. However, for the nect project, i would include more detail in the storyboards as sometimes we did not know what we meant when we looked at them.

Since everyone had been at the location where were filming before, everyone knew how to carry out the risk assesment and all the other risks of the location, so the risk assesment really did not take that long to carry out. The risk assesment was very useful to us as when we were at the location filming, we knew what to look out for and what was a hazard to us and to stay clear from it. I can not really think of how we could improve on this document in the next project as no one was injured in the process of filming.

Obviously our contingency plan did not take too long either as we already knew what we were going to do before shooting, so coming up with a back up plan, since the location was so familiar was not hard to think of. I think that this document was a little bit of commonsense so it seemed like a waste of time to carry out this document, however it consulted us what to do in scenarios that were unusual. I would improve on this by thinking of lots of different unusual scenarios of what to do.

Since we already had the props, costumes and equipment we knew how much they cost so all we had to do was write down how much we paid for for each thing we had. I found this document quite helpful as i knew how much we spent for each thing for the filming. I would not really know how to improve this document.

The audience research we carried out before shooting involved focus grooping, surveys and questioning on how we could make a successful advert. We thought that the commments from our peers and tutors to be very helpful when filming. We found this peice of work very helpful as we would know what to include and not to include when shooting our advert so we would get a better reaction from the audience and get the product to sell. I would improve on this by asking more questions on how to make the advert better.
