Task 6 - Audience Information
It is important for advertisers to get audience information to know how people react to what parts of the advert, so they know what they should include more in their advertisements. By studying audiences, it gives advertisers a better knowledge of what audiences like to see and can overall help the advertisers make their adverts better.
Audiences are divided into different categories when advertisers are conducting their research, there is:
- Standard Occupational Classification
- Psychographics (a common attitude)
This is a common attitude towards something so advertisers would be aware of what they think of a certain thing
- Demographics (where they live)
A particular type of person may take something differently depending on where they live because their way of life may be completely different to another way of life.
- Age
- Gender
These categories help the researchers find out how the advert can be used and improved in order to gain sales of the product.
It is important to identify different sections of audiences when carrying out research so you know what types of people react to advertisements in different ways so you know how to improve or use the advert. Its important to divide your research by psychographics so you know what different people's attitude to different things, so you know what to include and what not to include in your advertisement.
The BARB are a company for example can judge what can be shown on television and research to what different people like to watch and how certain audiences respond to different television shows.
